I recently had a poll asking readers what they thought of my site. Unfortunately, the results were not what I was hoping for. Fifty percent of my readers said that the site “Looks busy. Hard to find the content.”

The full results were as follows:

Looks busy. Hard to find the content - 50%

Looks great. Everything is easy to find - 20%

Leaves me bland. Nothing special about it - 20%

Too many ads! Can’t find the content - 10%

I don’t like it! - 0%

Fair enough. I wanted an honest answer, and I got one. Now, I would like to improve my site and make it more enjoyable for my reader. What can I do?

Then I thought “Hmm. I run my monitor at 1024×768 and I find the site pleasant.” Then I tried running at 800×600 and everything did look much more crowded because my middle column (which contains all my articles) gets squeezed by the 2 outer columns. Maybe that is the problem.

Anyways, I have a new poll asking readers what resolution they run their monitors at. This would probably be helpful to all bloggers so that they can design their sites for the most common resolution.

So please take the time to participate in my poll. It would be greatly appreciated.

Also, being new to blogging and web design, any and all constructive comments and criticisms would be greatly appreciated. The problem with my last poll is that there was nowhere for readers to leave a comment!
